Barts Health critical care nurses, cardiothoracic staff and anaesthetic staff working in a cardiac theatres/cardiac critical care area.
1) Revise the difference between ALS and CALS
2) Participate in skills stations covering the skills necessary in an emergency re-stemotomy
3) Demonstrate the roles needed for a team approach to an open chest situation
4) Utilise the opportunity to practice in a team in a safe environment
This is an interactive, practical day
Revision of the CALS guidelines and skills stations on pacing, gloving
and gowning and emergency re-sternotomy
Uniting the knowledge and skills with simulated scenarios utilising a
team approach to this emergency situation
Ejects resus guidelines, Emergency chest re-opening guidelines, MCQ pre-test, Cardiac pacing – sent to participants before the day.
