Appraisal and Revalidation
Overview
During this highly practical workshop you will have the opportunity to work through, discuss and practise the skills and competencies required for an effective appraisal. Constructive feedback is provided by a trained facilitator to ensure that as the appraiser you feel confident in your ability to complete a robust appraisal from preparation through to signing off the output statements of the process

Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending the course you will be able to: -
- Understand the importance of high - quality appraisals and the significance of quality assurance checks
- Check the appraisee’s supporting evidence, knowing what to look for and when to postpone an appraisal
- Understand a good structure for reflective comments and practise using this
- Know how to be assertive in discussions with the appraisee – if the supporting information is not adequate
- Examine examples of PDPs and be able to write clearer PDP’s using SMART techniques
- Become familiar with the Coaching GROW model and practise using it in realistic appraisal coaching situations
- Understand the importance of multi-source feedback in the appraisal and revalidation process
- Follow practical guidelines for leading successful and challenging MSF discussions during the appraisal
